Phillip Shults
My interest in tree work began when I was fifteen. My oldest brother and I spent long days splitting firewood for his wood-burning stove, and that early experience set the foundation. As I got older, I learned the trade hands-on from my father-in-law, Bob Street of Streets Tree Service, a seasoned logger and tree professional with more than forty years in the industry.

In 1996, I moved my family from southern Illinois to Louisville, Kentucky, ready to start our own path in professional tree care. I began with what I could manage: an old pickup truck and a small trailer to haul brush and wood. Through hard work and careful saving, I gradually upgraded our equipment and expanded the business, laying the foundation for Shults Tree Service.

As the business grew, my son Michael became our first ISA-certified arborist, elevating our tree care services to a higher level of professionalism and safety. His expertise allows us to handle complex tree work with precision and care, ensuring the safety of our crew, clients, and their property. Michael’s leadership and certification mark a new chapter for our family business, setting us apart in Louisville as a trusted, professional tree service.

Tree work has become a generational craft in our family. I represent the second generation, Michael is the third generation, and my grandson Cyrus carries the legacy forward as the fourth generation. Our mission remains the same: hard work, integrity, and the highest standard of service for every customer.
